Wife and I will be coming to Houma for Mardi Gras 2011, but we need to know the definition of the routes (ie: Westside route, Eastside route, Chauvin etc.)
Looking for ward to eating at Big Al’s and the seafood restaurants in Chauvin.
    Thanks,
    Bill L.

Can’t hardly wait, I live in Texas and join my family every year for Mardi Gras. Last year it was great ,seeing so many more folks dress for the occassion, it reminded me of when we were kids!
I would have loved to have see our Houmas Indians in dress in,
at least one of the parades. That would have been great.
Our Heritage is one to be quite proud of!
Looking forward to another Houma Mardi Gras, I salute the planners for putting together such a great event ,lots of hard work,
good food, and a wonderful time.
    Sincerely.
    Ella

Is there a Hotel or motel close to the Houma Westside Parade “Krewe Of Aquarius” Parade ?

Most places to stay in Houma are along Martin Luther King. Close, but probably not walkable unless you are near Hollywood Road (see the Quality Inn). Although that’s not the best area for the parades.

Easiest place to view is near the beginning @ the Southland Mall. Audrey’s Lil Cajun Mansion is in the neighborhood behind the mall.

The nicest stretch is downtown. Also the most crowded. You’ll probably have to drive and park there.

The west side parades run from the Southland Mall then:
    - South on West Park Ave (also called Parr Rd 33 on google maps)
    - Cross the Bayou @ Hollywood Rd
    - Continue south on West Main to downtown Houma
    - Turn right on Barrow Street to the parades end.

The major hotels are marked here via google:
